The Red Barn Restoration

Historic Red Barn 1910 landmark sign at a restored property in Hayden, Idaho.

Not every roof tells a story, but this one does

Some projects are more than just work — they’re a privilege.

This historic barn, once part of the F. Lewis Clark estate in 1910, originally housed the family’s horse-drawn carriages. For more than a century, it has stood as a piece of Hayden’s history, weathering time, seasons, and change.

When the homeowner trusted us to restore the roof, we didn’t take that lightly.

The original structure was roofed in classic cedar shake. For this restoration, the homeowner chose Brava Shake composite shingles in the color Aspen—a beautiful, long-lasting material that honors the look of the past while providing modern durability for the future. Brava Shake shingles are backed by a 50-year limited lifetime warranty, offering exceptional longevity and peace of mind.

Being invited into a home’s history — especially one like this — is something we never take for granted.

Thank you to the homeowners for trusting a small, family-owned roofing company to help carry this piece of North Idaho history into its next chapter.

Grateful for the trust. Proud to be part of its story.

This project included a full roof replacement on the main home, a new roof on the backyard shed, and a custom gutter installation for the patio area. The homeowner chose GAF Timberline architectural shingles with a 30-year warranty in the color Pewter Gray.

The homeowner takes exceptional care of her property, and every detail mattered. From the main roof to the smaller exterior elements, each part of the project was completed with the same level of attention, precision, and respect for the home.

We take pride in finishing projects with purpose—making sure every detail not only functions properly but complements the care already invested in the home.

Steep Pitches, Solid Craftmanship

This project came with its fair share of challenges steep 12/12 sections, detailed transitions into 8/12 pitches, and a full upgrade needed across the board.

The homeowner chose GAF Timberline HDZ® architectural shingles with a 30-year manufacturer warranty in the color Charcoal. Every section of the roof was completed with precision, care, and attention to detail to ensure long-lasting protection and a clean finished appearance.

From the steep slopes to the detailed transitions, this was the kind of project that reminds us why experience matters. We take pride in doing the work the right way—no shortcuts, no rushed workmanship, just solid roofing built to last.

More than anything, we’re grateful. Grateful for homeowners who trust us with something as important as their home… and who go above and beyond to care for the people working on it. Bringing lunch out for the crew each day we were there was an incredibly thoughtful gesture, and it truly meant a lot to our team.

This is why we do what we do.

Not just to build a solid roof but to serve people well along the way.

Another roof done right. Another family taken care of.

This project presented a unique set of challenges, including a steep 10/12 pitch, multiple large skylights, and a chimney that required careful, detailed flashing work. Every element demanded precision, planning, and experience to ensure long-term performance and protection.

The homeowner chose Owens Corning Duration architectural shingles in Estate Gray, backed by a 25-year warranty, making it a durable and reliable choice for a roof with complex features and demanding conditions.

Weather added another layer of complexity, with rain moving through the schedule and requiring weekend work to stay ahead of potential exposure. Through it all, Gary approached the job with complete dedication—giving his full attention, care, and craftsmanship to every detail.

This was more than just a roof replacement. It was a project that required heart, perseverance, and a deep respect for doing things the right way, even when conditions made the work harder.
